Rumour Hit Parade - New Top 2!

The rumours of HWWW being injured are true, with SFL saying he has a quad injury which is under investigation. With that in mind and everyone saying we need a striker, City are strongly linked with not 1 but 2!

First up is Taiwo Awoniyi who is straight in at number 1. (The Jam did this 3 times when it was difficult, one for older LASTers).

Now then, Awonyi has played 103 times for Forest and scored 23 goals. Before that he scored 25 goals in 65 games for Union Berlin whilst on loan from Liverpool, where he started out after winning "Most Valuable Player at a Coca-Cola football competition in London" and gaining a place at the Imperial Soccer Academy. Unusual career start! The 29 year old has played 10 times for Nigeria, scoring 2 goals as well as for their U17s, U20s, and U23s. Awonyi will be a different option for City, he is more of a target man who can dribble with the ball powerfully from the half way line, sounds a bit like legend Cyrille Regis! City have missed a physical presence up front for a while now, someone who bullies defenders. We are going to need that this season and Awonyi maybe the answer. Rumour is the fee is around £17 million

In at number 2 is Sidiki Cherif (who will be known as Omar if he signs, one for the even older LASters).

King Doug the First is now potentially splashing £20 million on 19 year olds wonder kids! What the actual! Cherif only joined Fenerbahçe on 1st Feb for a similar price of £23 million that City are supposedly paying. That deal though was an initial £4 million with a £18 million this summer and £3 million add ons. .He has played 17 games for them, scoring 1 goal. Before his move Cherif played for Angers 36 times, scoring 4 goals. Cherif's performances have earned him a call up for France's U21's recently. The 3rd new entry is Josh Acheampong from Chelsea. I have a soft spot for this surname after his namesake Isaac from Chad was a hero in my Championship Manager 97/98 campaign. I digress. Obviously any rumour from Chelsea has some added gravitas due to the SFL connection. Acheampong has played 46 games for Chelsea. scoring 2 goals. The Times is reporting this as a possible loan for the centre half/ right back. Not the strongest rumour yet. In at 10.

Stephen Mfuni from Man City is also a possibility according to good sources. The 18 year old can play centre half or left back and would provide cover in both areas, of which left back is definitely lacking. One to keep an eye on, in at 11!
