Rumour Hit Parade - Bassette Off On Loan plus 2 New Entries

Norman Bassette, the very first number 1 in the Rumour Hit Parade has indeed gone on loan to Belgian club Westerlo with an option to buy. Bertie played 29 games for City, scoring 2 goals and was a cult hero for a period after running around more than everyone else and getting friend of the LAST spell checker Anel Ahmedhodžićent sent off in a game against Sheff Utd. Bassette also scored one of his goals in that game which finished 2-2. The match also saw a half time dust up in the tunnel which resulted in fines for both teams. Unless Bassette scores a bucketload of goals or none so that Westerlo don't want him we probably won't see Bassette in a City shirt again. All the best.

Striker Lois Openda's name has been knocking around a little while now. However news broke yesterday of interest from Lyon alongside interest from Everton, Fulham and Leeds. You would think that puts us down the pecking order to sign him and therefore he drops to 11th.

Onto new entries and the first is Jay Stansfield from Blues. There is chat that City have joined Sunderland, Everton, Ipswich and Hull in being interested in signing Stansfield who has scored 47 goals in 138 matches at St Andrews. The apparent asking price is £30 million. LAST can't see this as a goer so he's straight in at a lowly 19.

The other new entry is Noah Atubolu, a German goalie from SC Freiburg. Ooh Atubolu Ooh Atubolu has a year left on his contract and wants to leave apparently, asking to be left out of a training camp. Rumour is though he has turned down City and Hull as he is more interested in Villa (WTF?) or Bournemouth. Villa could be selling everyones favourite keeper Emilio Martinez and that would leave them in need of a replacement. Couple this with the asking price of around £25 million and LAST can't see this happening either. In at a menial 21.

And on the subject of goalies.....Rushgoalieworth. Still no concrete news although I have heard rumours that the deal is done. LAST remains confident this gets over the line despite every hour seeming to bring stories his price has gone up a couple of more million. Soon only Elon Musk will be able to afford him. Maybe he will sign on Friday? It will be his one year anniversary of signing on loan at the start of last season.

Ellis Simms to Wolves has been way down the Hit Parade for a while. LAST is putting 2+2 together and getting 5 probably but theres an interesting story from Wolves today. Their striker Tolu Arokodare is trying to force a move away so much he training had to be cancelled on Monday when he sat down and refused to leave the pitch. Obviously if he leaves then Wolves will need another striker. On that basis alone Simms goes up 1 place.
