Rumour Hit Parade - Yirenkyi for £27 million anyone?

06/08/2026, 08:08:00 BST

@OptaJoe

Just 2 Hit Parades ago we put Caleb Yirenkyi straight in at number 5.

Well the former National RiSE Robotics Champion is now number 1 after various news sources, including Sky Sports reported that a deal has already been done for what would be a City and Scandinavian record of £27 million.

LAST previously said "The Ghanian defensive midfielder/centre half played in all 4 games for his country at the World Cup, scoring against Panama. Danish club and friend of the LAST spell checker Nordsjælland are looking for around £20 million for the 20 year old. LAST can see legs in this, Yirenkyi is the right age, already an experienced international with a World Cup, 15 games and 2 goals behind him and probably has his heights set on a big European league."

We stand by that with the exception that Yirenkyi looks a more attacking midfielder than we were led to believe. He would be a massive signing for City. Yirenkyi is wanted by clubs bigger than City but maybe its the thought of working with SFL and teaming up with BTA that is persuading him to come. Don't forget it was Yirenkyi who scored from BTA's assist against Panama and BTA has been very complimentary about him in the past. Here is what we potentially have to look forward to, a dynamic midfielder which friend of LAST Greg (you may remember him from LAST 1.0 with Greg's Sweet of the Match where he would evaluate his favourite sweet from the selection of pick and mix that....err...where was I ?) has been on about for months, if not years:

His goal for Ghana with the BTA assist:

More news when get it! Remember we called this possibility 2 weeks ago and Rushgoalieworth months ago. Mystic Jonny is on form!

Anyway, another friend of the LAST spellchecker Mykhaylo Mudryk is apparently also on City's radar in loan or permanent format. The Chelsea forward featured in their recent friendly but he also hasn't played for nearly 2 years with an alleged doping issue that has now been resolved. I guess there's a possibility that City might take him on loan but with no football under his belt for 2 years I can't see City splashing cash on him. In at 11.

The other new entry is Tim Iroegbunam. A centre midfielder at Everton, he is apparently interesting all 3 promoted clubs. Timmy has played 52 times for Everton over the last couple of seasons and before that 20 times for Vile over 2 loan spells. At 23 he's the right age but do we need another midfielder in Yirenki comes in? In at 14.

Francisco Moura  was first mentioned in the Hit Parade back on June 10th. The 74 times capped Portugal left back popped up again in dispatches in the last couple of days, nothing more than City are interested but enough to go up a place to 19.

We previously mentioned Jahnoah Markelo could possibly be going to Rangers for the season. There's now rumours he could be going to Saudi Arabia on a permanent move. He goes up a couple of places to 10.

Players dropping out of the Hit Parade are Konstantinos Tzolakis who has signed for Hull for a club record fee. He drops to the Not Happened table and while we are at it we may as well take every other keeper out as well so its goodbye to Mark Travers , Noah Atubolu, Radek Vitek and Filip Jorgenson.

Finally, Carl Rushgoalieworth. Only kidding. #isurvivedthecarlrushworthtransfersaga

As ever, if you see a rumour I've missed drop it in the comments below or send them to LAST!

If this guy signs what a great signing because in a season or two he will be worth a lot more if he plays to his potential.
