Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. oh, oh, oh, oh— Stop, Hamer time.
Social media has been in meltdown over the last couple of days since Will from the BBC posted a story about City being in negotiations with Sheff Utd about the return of Gus Hamer. The tweet said City are still owed money for initial transfer and negotiations were ongoing. The rumour has since been reported by Sky Sports. Since then Hamer has played on Sunday night in a friendly vs Bochum in Germany and told a supporters gathering that he's staying. At the same gathering Chris Wilder said there had been interest but Hamer was currently a United player:
Interesting one this. Hamer is in the last year of his contract and Sheff Utd won't want to leave for nothing in a years time. United may still owe money for him to City, I'm not sure. He would be one of the bigger earners at Sheff Utd but equally they don't want to lose him. Where he would fit in at City I'm not sure, he would do well to get a starting place you would think but then again City need strength in depth and he has a seasons Premier League experience. There was a previous rumour about Luke Woolfenden interesting Sheff Utd, maybe thats a goer and theres some sort of deal to be done. I have heard Woolfy in injured currently and he didn't play at City's pre-season 1-0 win at Leicester on Saturday. I'm really not sure how much truth is in this Hamer rumour but the BBC and Sky Sports are reporting it so its going in at the top spot.
City are now rumoured to be interested in Swansea's Žan Vipotnik. Vipotnik finished as the Championships top scorer last season with 23 goals and has scored 32 in 93 in total for the Swans. He's valued at around £15 million apparently and is also attracting interest from the continent. City need a striker but would they go for one who is unproven at the top level although he does have 5 in 23 for Slovenia. In at 6 just to annoy my Swansea supporting mate.
Sorba Thomas has appeared in the rumour pages again, nothing new other than City interest. Its possibly just a recycled story. He moves up a place to 10.
Theres been surprisingly few rumours about players leaving City but one popped up on Friday, namely Kaine Kesler-Hayden interesting Southampton. He played 22 times for City last season, thats a bit misleading as started only 5 games. Obviously he's not replacing van Ewijk anytime soon but if he left that does leave City should of cover at right back. Its a possibility I guess but no more. In at 14.
An older rumour I haven't mentioned as it was only a loan deal is that Jahnoah Markelo could possibly be going to Rangers for the season. He's looked quite bright when he has played but would SFL give him game time in the PL? Another possibility, in at 12.
John Stones has signed for Inter and so goes in the Not Happened table. Not a great surprise and he was realistically never coming to the CBS.
Finally, Carl Rushgoalieworth. I'm fed up of writing about it and you're fed up of reading about it. This is a done deal, we've said it for weeks. I'm not sure why it hasn't been announced yet but LAST is putting this in the Happened table. End of. Welcome back Carl.
As ever, if you see a rumour I've missed drop it in the comments below or send them to LAST.
