The LAST Word

Potential banana skin avoided, players who didn't feature much on Friday got a run out, Rudy started, 4 goals scored, all good. With a couple of exceptions.....

It was a blistering start for City that should have really seen them finish the game off rather than letting Plymouth get back to 2-2. Kitchings ball into Yirenki was sublimely flicked for Awoniyi to run onto and slot home. Awoniyi was involved in the second too and he put the ball into Rudoni's path before getting clattered. Rudy ran through and calmed slotted past the keeper. 5 minutes gone, 2 up, game over you would think. However Irow, who only joined this week on loan from Spurs, found acres of space down our right from a diagonal ball, cut back inside and the ball went past an unsighted Bentley. Never mind, half time to regroup and finish it off. Things are never that simple though and Plymouth equalised on 54 minutes when Kitch literally ran around in a circle, got dispossessed by Amaechi who went on to finish past Bentley. Fair play to the Argyle. City though regained the lead on 67 minutes when Tats cross was put back across goal by Torp and birthday boy EMC stabbed home from close range. The game finally was over on 78 minutes when Edwards whacked BTA whilst trying to clear the ball and gave away a penalty. Up stepped Torp to put the ball in the top right hand corner in front of the impressive numbers of travelling SBA.

The thing that will worry SFL is another 2 goals from City mistakes, we really have to cut these out. The first goal was from Lati leaving acres of space on the right, the second from Kitch dithering and getting caught out. Lets hope this doesn't turn into a regular occurence in the coming weeks, it can be contagious. Bentley made his debut and it wasn't the most confident but lets hope he improves, well lets hope he isn't needed or somethings happened to Rushworth. It was good to see EMC back and Rudy start whilst Torp must be pressing for a starting place as must Awoniyi.

And that flick from Yirenkyi for the first goal, oof.

The draw for the third round is tonight, theres a pre draw for the clubs in Europe before the Preston v Everton game and the main draw is afterwards.
