Pinnock is Cov

As suspected Ethan Pinnock has signed on full time for City in a 3 year deal worth £6 million. He will wear the number 2 shirt.

Pinnock, with over 100 PL games and 28 games for Jamaica is going to to be a wise head and give valuable experience to the defence (mind you I remember typing that about Colin Hendry!)

He has had some career, starting at Dulwich Hamlet just over 10 years ago, then a season at Forest Green, a couple of seasons at Barnsley and then joining Brentford for their rise to the PL.

Here's why City have signed him:

It does seem odd to offer a 33 year old a 3 year deal with the option for another year (if that is the case). City must have their reasons which will become apparent I'm sure. Maybe its because of things like this, Thomas Frank gave an emotional teamtalk about Pinnock before his 100th appearance for Brentford.

Brentford fans seem to think his best days are behind him with only 8 appearances last season but thats not necessarily why City have bought him. The whole squad is missing PL experience and its going to be his voice around Ryton and in the changing room as well as playing alongside Amenda the Defender and Thomas that will be important. Maybe SFL is planning 3 at the back at some point. If this experience is the difference between 17th and 18th it will be worth every penny.

This does push Lati and Kitch further down the pecking order and whether either leaves before the end of the transfer window or stay for the PL ride remains to be seen. City must be getting close, if not past the 25 player PL limit.
