MASSIVE SIGNING! LAST Signs Up Stu Court!

In a massive close season signing, LAST has signed up Stu Court, City's DJ for the last 9 seasons!

Stu is the man responsible for making WLADITT the anthem it is, championing local bands and all the other music you heard prematch, half time and post match. The club has decided to change its offerings over the tannoy for this season and LAST didn't hesitate, or believe its luck, to snap up someone who has been an integral part of the match atmosphere at the CBS for the past 9 seasons.

Stu will be curating the LAST Spotify playlist everty match so you'll be able to listen on the way to or from the game.

Welcome on board Stu! We asked Stu a few questions about his favourite music, City memories and what the biggest animal he thinks he could singlehandedly clingfilm to a lampost.

You did the music at City for the last 9 years. How did that start?

The job was put up on the club website, applied for it and got invited to the Notts County opener in League 2. Went from there, pretty much. Very fun vantage point of it and going to watch the City and get paid for, even when the stadium was EMPTY, was really cool.

What was your favourite memory over that time?

At CBS or wherever? There are plenty. The return there against Forest, beating Leicester and just no one went home and I kept playing music so much that John (Dalziel) text me saying its sound like I have a proper party going on in the background of BBC radio was fun. Most of last year was really good. We got on the pitch after FT v Wrexham which was a really fun wrap on everything that season and a few pictures and taking it all in with some of the players having a party 30 yards away was very cool. Theres a few in the box/job itself but there the ones I'll take away from the CBS.

Then you have everything with WLADITT which almost resulted in Wembley v United. I knew it was coming, didn't know it would look and sound like it did. Core memory shit, that

How do you choose the music?

What I listen to, or would enjoy listen to would see some of the early 'doors open' mix but then just what I know would work in a stadium bowl like ours from going to so many different grounds, its quite easy to know how a football ground should sound. It's not too hard and atmosphere building was fun to see, the busier/fuller the bowl got over the 9 years

You champion local bands, where do you find them?

Erm, mostly just keeping an eye out. Either thru social media or local radio. BBC do the Introducing stuff, thats where some of them come from. CWR do the 'song of the week' that was a good base too. But then over the years the club asked for submissions, which saw most of the last few years. Bands like Candid, Idle Noise, The Institutes were rotational parts of it, I met guys from some of them. Then just mixed in the older generations of Cov music with Specials, King, Primitives, The ENEMY. An idea that lasted some 6 years of the 9 and it was always cool to see the bands and singers appreciate it so much. Hopefully not lost from hereon.

What’s your own personal favourite band/singer/song?

All time is Oasis. The band and people I've seen the most, last summer at Wembley was another of those core memories. It was just such a shared moment between 80,000 people. Unbelievable. Slide Away is one of the best songs ever written. More recently the Country music/Folky Americana stuff has seeped in- as you would see from the playlists if you sat and went through them. So people like Luke Combs and Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton.

Prediction for this season?

Staying up, the Haji rumours are a concern but I think we have enough behind that front line and in between the sticks to surprise a few. Really excited to see EMC, Bobby, Tats in the prem. If they make the step, it saves and makes money in the future doesn't it?

Who's your favourite all time player?

Hamer, I think. I remember working the Covid games when he first got here. It was such a weird takeawy from it but I'd say to my dad or my mates that whenever they got back in, try and watch him warm up. The things he could do with the ball at his feet was so so foreign in Sky Blue.

Then the season started and evolved and you just saw what he was like when it mattered. Energy, oddly physical and the passing and technique unlike few players we'd seen in the dark days. He was the first player we had where you could kind of see the progress in player form. Special, can not believe he's back and its made the summer for me.

What's your favourite City match?

Tough, plenty are recent. Boro away in the semis is up there, the noise and visual at FT of all the players running towards us will never leave me. Wolves too. But Notts County, was a party and with such nerves and maybe a sliding doors nature to it had it gone wrong. It was some performance and night.

Then there is Man Utd in 1997, its my favourite ever goal so probably should be that one, but have much better, visceral memories of the games more recent. None from like 2005 to 2015 though, obviously!

Villa or Leicester?

Changes every year. I've seen Villa in the prem a few years ago at Spurs and their team were annoyingly likeable. Watkins, McGinn et al. But they scored and it just reminded me how annoying that fan base is. The two games Im looking forward to most are them two. So probably them. Leicester ARE Leicester.
