Head to Head

Coventry City v Hull City - Head to Head

28/08/2026, 04:34:16 BST

Let's be honest, City don't have a great recent record against Hull. Luckily SFL does, he has never lost to Hull as a player (W4 D2) or as a manager (W5 D3).

City have played Hull 20 times in the league since 2005 - winning 6, drawing 7, losing 7. There was a 9 year gap from 2012 to 2021 but we have played them every year since. When we break that down from October 2021 to last season it reads W2, D5, L3.

Last seasons 2 games finished 0-0, City registering 6 shots on target over the two games.

Ironically City's first home game last season was Hull from which we all came away disappointed. Little did we know what was to come and that Hull would be promoted themselves.

City's last win was 4 games ago in December 2024. Pedro put Hull 1 up at the break but City came back with a goal from EMC on 52 minutes. Torp then had a penalty saved after Bassette was brought down before Rudy headed home with the winner 18 minutes from time.

A recent notable game was the 3-2 loss at Hull in 2022 in August 2022. Godden's brace could not match  Estupiñán's hat-trick.

If we really want a nostalgia trip how about a 2 legged 2nd round League Cup fixture! City won the first leg at home 2-0 with goals from Lamptey and Richardson and the away second leg 1-0 with another goal from Lamptey. Ghanaian's do well against Hull which bodes well!

Going back another 5 years and a volley from Speedo and headers from Livingstone and Regis saw City into the 4th round of the League Cup.
