CHERIF SIGNS!

19/08/2026, 14:09:39 BST

Sidiki "I Shot The" Cherif has signed for City, bringing our (or rather King Doug the Firsts) spending this close season to around £120 million.

£120 MILLION.

There is a lot of guesstimation in this but I think that since relegation we have spent around £85 million in 25 years. therefore we have doubled and some just in this window, What a mad world the Premier League is.

Cherif only joined Fenerbahçe on 1 February for a similar fee to the £22 million City are reportedly paying. Since joining Fenerbahçe, Cherif has made 17 appearances, scoring once. Before his move to Turkey, he played 36 times for Angers, scoring four goals. His performances have also earned him a recent call-up to the France U21 squad.

On the face of it, its slightly odd that Cherif has stayed at Fenerbahçe for just 6 months. However, they have massive money issues apparently, being £365.5 million in debt with an unsustainable annual wage bill near £144.5 million. They were fined £6 million last month by UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play rules, as their player wages consume 84% of revenue instead of the permitted 70%. In short, they need to offload and City have swooped.

It looks like the arrival of "Ishotthe" has one eye on the future as well as this season. He's only 19 and is going to take time to settle and adjust. It maybe strengthens the rumours of Simms to Wolves or Stoke rumours.

Here's some highlights packages. I've got to say that looking at his goals and appearances last season he reminds me of another teenager we once signed years ago - Peter Ndlovu - but with more upper body strength.

Welcome Sidiki.

One senses that half of the coaching crew of the Continent of Africa will be visiting Coventry..., looks like we won't be playing in international breaks...
