Manchester City v Coventry City - Head to Head

Their have been 73 previous meetings between City and Man City resulting in 21 wins for City, 34 for Man City and 18 draws.

City haven't met Man City since City lost 4-2 at Maine Road in March 2002. The home game was a cracker that season, finishing 4-3 to City in September 2001 in what was one of the best games of that decade. Roland Nilson was City's manager and Kevin Keegan was in charge of Man City. Man City equalised 3 times after goals from Stuart Pearce (og), Big Mo and Lee Hughes. Thommo then popped up with the winner in the 89th minute.

New Years Day 2001 saw the last PL game, a 1-1 draw at Highfield Road, Edworthys goal cancelling out Wanchope's opener.

City actually won at Maine Road that season, Edghill (og) and Bellamy putting City 2 up before Horlock grabbed one back with 12 minutes to go. This was City's second away win on the trot after going 17 months without one!

The classic purple kit was out in 1996 as Rosler's opener was cancelled out by Dublin 11 minutes later.

Man City's last win PL against City was in November 1992. Micky Quinn put City 2 up before Sheron, Quinn and Curle gave Man City a 3-2 win.

If we really want a nostalgia trip, how about these 2 games from the early 70s.

Jan 1974 saw a League Cup replay with City in their green and black away kit. The first game had finished 2-2 in December. The miners strike was on and the game kicked off at 1.30pm on a weekday due to energy restrictions. There was even a bomb scare before kick off. It also rained heavily and the game was played in an absolute mudbath. I won't spoil the score if you don't know but it was a cracker.

City won 3-2 in October 1972 with goals from Carr and Stein being cancelled out by March and Summerbee before Alderson grabbed the winner,
