City look to get off the mark against Brighton on Sunday. SFL has warned it's not going to be easy. Brighton have a raft of injuries though and it would be a big 3 points....

City Team News

I'm guessing SFL won't change much. We looked so much better against Manchester City with 3 at the back and it must be why Pinnock was brought in to give us that option and experience.

This week JDS and MVE should be able to get forward more and we should spend less time in a 5-4-1 with Rudi sitting back in front of MVE.

I think Yirenkyi might well start for his energy but I wouldn't be surprised to see EMC keep his place either.

Brighton Team News

The good news for City is that Brighton have somewhat of an injury crisis. Yankuba Minteh, Kaoru Mitoma , Stefano Tzimas, Jack Hinshelwood, Mats Wieffer and Evan Ferguson are all out. Femi Azeez could make his debut after moving for 12.5 million and seems to be Brighton's only fit wide player. Georginio Rutter is close to returning from injury and could feature whilst Zadok Yohanna injury is minor and could also play.

Player Links

The biggest players (in City terms) to play for Brighton and City are Viktor Gyökeres and Carl Rushworth. Yasin Ayari starred at the World Cup and he was on loan from Brighton a couple of years ago but failed to make any sort of impression and left as quickly as he came. Leo Østigård was a popular player at City, scoring a vital goal in a 1-0 win against Rotherham as both battled the drop in April 2021.

Adam Virgo and Romain Vincelot both scored against City (as can be seen in the Head to Head) whilst playing for Brighton whilst Gary Gardiner did the opposite.

Kevin Thornton and Andy Whing both came through the ranks at City and also played for Brighton. Going back further we have the likes of Ernie Machin, Chris Cattlin, Dennis Mortimer and Neil Martin.

Micky Adams managed Brighton either side of his tenure at City. Russell Slade has also managed both clubs.

LAST Prediction

I'm going for a 2-1 win to City in a sort of season starts here sort of way. Brighton have a few injuries but have still manged to score 8 goals in 3 games. City should have some confidence from the performance at Manchester City and if they get the first goal that will boost that even further.
